Since her debut as a model at Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did numerous campaigns for various brands, and she's done ads to promote the brand's Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio etc. Anushka took an acting class before beginning to audition for film roles in addition to the modeling profession. Anushka Sharma's first acting role was in the 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi alongside Shah Rukh Khan. As a screen test for her, she refused to perform the test in a hurry and instead spent a day to prepare herself. Later she was contracted for three films under the Yash Raj Films label. In the film, she performed the role of a young girl who was married to a middle age man (the part Shah Rukh Khan is playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka appeared along with Shahid Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das and Meiyang Chang in the 2010 movie "Badmash Company". The movie received mixed reviews. Anushka was in a movie named Band Baaja Baaraat, starring Ranveer, where she played the role of a middle class who sets up her wedding planning business. The film received a positive review. The contract of Anushka's for three films under Yash Raj Films was completed with the Band Baaja Baraat.
